Engineering in Action
Wintec in Hamilton organised an Engineering in Action Day which Wesley College had 7 students attend.
The day started with a visit to Mainline in Hamilton who are NZ’s leading manufacture of fuel storage tanks. Students were shown the elements of design and fabrication of these tanks and the different fabrication engineering roles and apprenticeships available. It was then off to the Wintec Rotokauri campus where there were displays of creations from the different engineering specialties offered at Wintec such as robotics. The students then took a tour of the engineering and trades block. The final visit was to Stafford Engineering in Hamilton who mostly design and fabricate components for the Food Processing & Packaging industry.
The students enjoyed the day and seeing both what it would be like to study through Wintec and the opportunities once in an apprenticeship at the companies we visited.
