The recently completed Special Character Evaluation found that Wesley's Special Character is not only present, but "real, visible and valued." Students, whaanau, and staff consistently spoke about belonging, care, faith, humility, service, cultural identity, and the sense that Wesley is a family. The evaluation concluded that relationships are one of Wesley's greatest strengths and that students continue to feel known, supported, and valued by staff.
Achievement Outcomes Continue to Rise
Wesley's 2025 NCEA results demonstrate that the work happening in classrooms is translating into exceptional academic success. NCEA Level 2 achievement reached 88%, the strongest result in recent years and 14 percentage points above the national average. At NCEA L2, Maaori students achieved a remarkable 93% pass rate, while Pasifika students achieved 85%, both significantly above national benchmarks. Female students recorded outstanding success rates of 93% at Level 2 and 92% at Level 3.
These results reflect years of deliberate focus on literacy, numeracy, targeted interventions, Foundation Studies, and the REP programme, which continue to strengthen pathways for success across the College.
Wellbeing Remains Exceptionally Strong
