Principal's Weekly Update: Term 3, Week 9
A look back at another busy and meaningful week at Wesley College, including our Senior Examinations, Strategic Planning and Workshop Evening, upcoming Spoken Word in Auckland and a reminder about our Student Led Conferences next week, end of Term 3.

The end of a very busy week.

Senior examinations have gone very well, and we are pleased with the attendance, commitment, and focus demonstrated by our Year 11, 12, and 13 students. The maturity and dedication shown throughout the examination period have been impressive and have provided a strong foundation as students prepare for their end-of-year external examinations. We are confident that the effort invested now will place them in a positive position for future success.

Our expectation is that every senior student achieves 14 credits plus in each of their subjects. Check in with your children to see if they are on track with this. It is a simple formula, 14 credits per subject gives them more than enough to achieve their NCEA level.

We recently held our Strategic Planning Session alongside our very first community workshops on Thursday 17 September. While attendance numbers were lower than initially indicated, the event was a success. The feedback received from whaanau was overwhelmingly positive and confirmed that this style of engagement is something worth continuing and expanding in 2027.

We believe this approach strengthens the relationships between home and school, creating opportunities for partnership and ensuring that we are truly working together to support the success of our young people. The range of workshop topics provided were Careers/Gateway, Cybersafety, Study Skills, Attendance tips and Well-being.

Next year, we will seek ideas and suggestions from our community as we design an even broader and more diverse programme of workshops.

A sincere thank you to our staff who planned and delivered the workshops, and to the whaanau who attended and participated so enthusiastically. It was wonderful to welcome you to the College and to spend time learning together.

On Saturday evening our Spoken Word team participate in the finals in the city. We wish them all the best and hope they can continue the proud legacy Wesley has in this relatively new competition.

Student led Conferences - Thursday 24th and Friday 25th September. This is a crucial time of year for students, and our expectations is that all whaanau takes the opportunity to catch up with our Learning Coaches.

Please book online, and if you can't make it, please arrange a time to meet either online or in person. Have a great weekend!
